A religious group is asking for calm after a woman was killed and two other people were injured in a shooting on Saturday in northeast Houston.
Police said the incident occurred in the 500 block of East Main Street at around 11:45 p.m.
Police say the woman was walking in the area when a black SUV pulled up beside her and the driver shot her in the head and fled the scene.
No one else was hurt in the incident.
The incident happened at a neighborhood park, according to KHOU.
The woman’s body was recovered at the scene, and police said they were still trying to determine if the shooting was an act of domestic violence.
Police have not released any other information.
Police are searching for the driver of the SUV, who was not identified, but KHOU reported that a witness said the driver was the mother of a child.
Police have asked anyone with information about the incident to call Houston Police Homicide Detectives at 713-308-4161 or Crime Stoppers at 718-222-TIPS.
